For all Brazil travelers, it’s important to keep up to date when it comes to required travel visas to avoid hassles entering the country. That’s why we’ve brought you important information about the new guidelines issued by the Brazilian government for Americans, Canadians and Australians planning to travel to Brazil.
According to the VSF.GLOBAL visa expedition website (and the U.S. Embassy & Consulates in Brazil), the update was due to be effective on January 10th, 2024, but the Brazilian government recently postponed it to April 10th, 2024. Brazil will require the Electronic Visa (eVisa) as a mandatory entry permit for citizens of the United States, Australia, and Canada for them to visit the country (if you currently possess a previous valid physical visa in your passport aligned with the purpose of your visit, there’s no requirement to obtain a new visa – for those nationals from these three countries without a visa, they will need an eVisa starting on April 10th, 2024).
If your arrival is scheduled for after April 9th, 2024 we strongly recommend applying for the eVisa in advance to prevent potential travel disruptions stemming from delays or missed connections.
The cost of the visa will be $80.90 USD per person and will be valid for 5 years for Canadians and Australians and 10 years for Americans. Although visas have these validity periods, it’s worth remembering that you can stay in Brazil for a maximum of 90 days a year.
